Wedding Season ~ Bristol, Rhode Island

A couple weeks ago, my cousin got married at the beautiful Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, Rhode Island. I was not the official photographer for the wedding, but of course I had my camera with me to photograph my two kids and my niece who were flowers girls and ring bearer. My cousin was so beautiful and calm! Honestly, I joked with her about not being able to tease her and call her “bridezilla”. One of the rare things at this wedding was that all us cousins were actually in the same room which hasn’t happened in probably about ten years. It was a speedy ceremony and a really fun reception. Congratulations Becky and Chris!

First off, I would like to thank all the models. You ALL did a wonderful job and you ALL deserve to win! But alas, there can only be one winner. Also, thank you to all who participated by voting. I’m truly overwhelmed by the response to this contest. Everyday was so much fun seeing all the votes come in.

So, I am proud to announce the winner … lucky number 15, with a whopping 197 votes. Numbers 4, 8 and 13 were very close behind! Congratulations!

I’m SO excited to share all the photos from my ‘Little Models’ contest from over the weekend. We had a great turnout and I ended up photographing 18 children for the contest. It’s going to be very difficult for you all to vote which is the winner – they are ALL great!

Spring Models Contest! ~ East Longmeadow Photographer

Happy Spring! I don’t know about you, but I am in the mood to celebrate the end of winter! In honor of the first days of Spring I am holding a Contest this weekend.

What: “Spring Has Sprung” models contest
Who: Children 10 and under
Where: Norcross House, 89 Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA
When: Friday ~ March 26th ~ 9:30am-11:30am
Saturday ~ March 27th ~ 12pm-2pm

Each child who enters will be photographed for about 10 minutes during the times listed above. This contest is not about who is the most adorable, we know ALL children are adorable! It is about the model that best personifies Spring!

The images will be posted on a web gallery for friends and family to make their vote. The winner will receive a cool multi-image collage print AND a custom designed portfolio card.

There will be balloons, pinwheels, and lots of laughter. All models must register in advance by contacting Suzanne at 413.525.9089.

Tip: Have your child wear bright, vibrant colors. Raincoats and umbrellas work great too!

Vanity Chair Images Revealed, Part One

I’ve just returned from a week in Las Vegas for the annual WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers, Int’l) Conference and Trade Show. This conference hosted approximately 14,000 photographers. Yes, Fourteen Thousand. You can probably imagine how crazy it was with all those artsy, creative types running around Vegas for a week. To say that I’m completely exhausted is an understatement.

Just before I left, I hosted the Vanity Chair event. It was so much fun and we raised over $100 for Girl’s Inc. I am so pleased with the project, if not a bit sad that it’s over. This personal project challenged me in many ways and pushed me beyond my creative comfort zone. I don’t think I’m quite ready to let go of it yet so if you were at the event, give me a call to create your very own Vanity Chair style portrait. Heck, even if you weren’t at the event, I’d love to photograph you.

I wanted to share some of the images I created for the project as well as some photos from the event itself. We all had a great time and raised money for a great charity too. I really want to thank Kim for taking photos at the event and Heather from Suki and Karen from Salon Karma for helping to make the event such a great success!

Annual “Vanity Chair” Event

Ok, What the heck is “Vanity Chair”?

Great question! Just after Christmas, I decided that I wanted to challenge myself to create images unlike my typical style. I was web browsing and came across a beautiful image of Hedy Lamarr. I thought to myself, it would be really cool to photograph with this kind of lighting. Very different from my children’s portraits

So I got inspired by the 30’s era of photography and I’ve been photographing women like crazy. But, it isn’t just about photographing women in cool hollywood glam, it’s also about using one particular “prop” – one chair. This has created some challenges I wasn’t even aware of going into the project, but I am really enjoying the process.

The “Vanity Chair” event is going to be a really fun night where I finally unveil my new work *gulp*. We’re going to have great music, wine, snacks and Salon Karma & Suki are going to be there to spoil you while you check out the great art and even participate!

What a great way to shake off the winter blues and get out with the girls. We will also be accepting $5 donations to benefit Girls Inc. Be sure to RSVP right away! Can’t wait to see you there.

What a beautiful baby!

I had such a great time photographing at Cradle this past Saturday. There are many images that I love from the day, but I must share this one. I really enjoy photographing babies. They don’t move as quickly as two-year olds and they are so easy to interact with. As you can see, this little baby is so cute! I really enjoyed working on this image and making it extra special.

Family Portrait Day ~ Springfield, Massachusetts Photographer

This year, our annual Sleaque Images “Family Portrait Day” is on October 17th at Forest Park. These outdoor portraits make really great holiday gifts and many of our clients use the images from their session to create truly unique holiday cards to share with friends and family.

We have a limited number of sessions available for the October 17th “Family Portrait Day” event. If you are interested, be sure to call now to reserve your preferred time. Just a note: We are scheduling a rain date for the following weekend.

Normally, our weekend sessions are $275, but for this special event, we are offering 45 minute sessions at $100 per family.

Mom’s Night Out ~ Celebrating Back to School

Ok, I’m probably not alone here, and it may seem wrong, but man am I glad that the kids are back at school! It seems like our town was the only one in the area to start after Labor Day. But we got lucky. I think the nicest weather we’ve had all summer was that last week before my kids went back to school.

This week, my son started Kindergarten, and my daughter – 1st grade. A bitter-sweet moment for me. I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. The idea of my two beautiful children attending school for the WHOLE day, without me having to leave to pick up someone in the middle of the day. Part of me is so excited, and yet there is still a part of me that can’t believe I have two school-aged kids. Before I know it, I’ll be writing about graduation. Yikes.

So, in celebration of this magical moment, I’ve organized our first Fall Mom’s Night Out. We will be meeting at La Cucina in Hampden at 7pm, this coming Monday – Sept. 14th
